ART – FINE ART

This course is designed to be very flexible, allowing students to creatively explore any aspect that is personal to them whilst learning and developing key skills in a wide variety of Fine Art disciplines.
Entry requirements: 5 in art if taken or portfolio to be submitted.

This course is designed to be very flexible allowing students to creatively explore any aspect that is personal to them whilst learning and developing skills and knowledge across the photography medium.

Entry requirements: 5 in GCSE Art or Photography if taken or portfolio to be submitted.

ART – TEXTILES

Textiles is a broad, practical and creative subject which can prepare you for many career paths in the creative industries. This course is designed to be very flexible and allow you to creatively explore any aspect that is personal to you whilst learning and developing key skills in a wide variety of textile disciplines.

Entry requirements: 5 in Art if taken or portfolio to be submitted

BIOLOGY

Biology is the study of life, from the single cell to the evolution and distribution of all living organisms – including you. This course gives you a broad and comprehensive knowledge of biological processes, advancements and ethics.

Entry requirements: 6-6 in Combined Science or 6 in Biology, plus 5 in Maths

BUSINESS STUDIES

Business is front page news. The way companies operate is under greater scrutiny than ever before, while TV programmes like The Apprentice and Dragon’s Den have raised the profile of business to a new generation. To succeed at this subject, you don’t need to have studied at GCSE level, but you must have an interest in how businesses function and the external environment in which they operate.

Entry requirements: 4 in Maths, plus 4 in English Literature or Language

CHEMISTRY

A Level chemistry is about how matter and energy behave and interact with each other: from molecular changes in the eye responding to light that allow you to see; to fabricating and testing compounds to produce lifesaving drugs.

Entry Requirements: 6-6 in Combined Science or 6 in Chemistry, plus 6 in Maths

COMPUTER SCIENCE

Computer science is, above all else, relevant to the modern and changing world of computing. It is a practical subject where students can apply the academic principles to real-world systems. It’s also an intensely creative subject that combines invention and excitement and can look at the natural world through a digital prism.

Entry requirements: 5 in Computing if taken, or 5 in Maths & English Literature or Language

DANCE

A Level dance is an exciting, challenging and very rewarding course. A mixture of both practical and theoretical work.

DRAMA & THEATRE STUDIES

A Level drama and theatre studies is an exciting, challenging and very rewarding course. A mixture of both practical and theoretical work, the course challenges your understanding of the world and the people in it.
